My Cat Alfie

Meet the newest addition to our family: Alfie.

I have written about my Jack Russell Terrier (Oliver) in my hub, How NOT to Train Jack Russell Terrier, and I know even less about cats, but I do know this, Alfie is way cool.

In the bathroom...

About 5 feet off the ground. How he go up there we'll never know.

How We Met

Alfie found us actually. One day, while shutting down the computers and multimedia stuff after church, a good friend came and ask for my car keys. He said he could hear a cat meowing from inside my car. This was interesting since we did not have a cat.

So, I gave him my keys while I finished shutting everything down. When I walked outside, I was surprised to see a group of men in their undershirts and slacks all gathered around my car, which was by now jacked up on the driver's side. Protruding from under the front of my car and out from the hood of my car were various other sets of what appeared to be male legs. You would have thought a child was trapped inside. And, in a manner of speaking, one was.

After several minutes of hands probing under the car, down into the engine area, banging on every possible panel, a tiny black dash zoomed past us and up a nearby tree. A very thorny tree, I might add. It took a Sheriff's deputy to extricate poor little Alfie (he wasn't Alfie yet) from the tree. ...No, we didn't call the cops, he was a member of our church. He just happened to be the tallest guy around.

Apparently, Alfie had managed to crawl inside the engine area of my car and survive for who knows how long. He was malnourished, covered in fleas, and scared of his own shadow. But, a lot of flea and tick medication, a surprising amount of cat food, a sizable vet bill, and loads of TLC later, voila, a happy, healthy, and endlessly entertaining cat (who thinks he's a dog).

He is quite possibly the cutest kitten ever. That is not to say he's not a stinker, he is that too, but a cute one.
